March Update - BackerKit Locking Soon
about 2 years ago – Mon, Mar 14, 2022 at 09:54:01 PM

Hi folks! We’ve got an early update for you here because we wanted to give everyone plenty of notice that we will be locking the BackerKit survey responses on April 12th.

If you have to change your address, please do so now! If you need to process a change of address after that date, you will need to email us at [email protected], but we cannot guarantee your game will ship to a new address given after that date.

Our printer, Shuffled Ink, has confirmed that they will be shipping the games to the Indie Press Revolution warehouse towards the end of April or early May. From there, our partners at IPR will handle the shipping directly to you!

We have also confirmed with Roll20 that we’re aiming for a May delivery of the virtual module, so with luck, both the physical and digital versions of the game will be out in the world around the same time! It’s so exciting to know that soon you’ll all be able to share in experiencing this game that our whole team has worked so hard on.

This also means that preorders will close on April 12th! If someone you know has been meaning to pick up the game, please let them know that preorders will be closing in a month!

What’s Next?

Make sure you get those BackerKit surveys in and updated! At our last check, there were 77 of you who had not filled out your surveys yet, so please do!

As we get closer to our projected dates, we will provide you with more accurate timelines for shipping. Thank you again for all your support for The Price of Coal, especially as we start to see the finish line in the distance!

February Update
about 2 years ago – Tue, Mar 01, 2022 at 12:25:02 AM

Hi folks! We have some fun news for you today: we received the print proofs of The Price of Coal from Shuffled Ink! The team met up to review them and ensure they looked good, and we gave our approval to the printer to proceed. We are in their queue and we are waiting on a timeline for printing.

Here are some photos of the proofs (please excuse the light in my office). Aren’t they beautiful? We’re so proud of the work Jaqueline and Miguel did for the art and layout on this game.

We have also sent the files to Roll20, and we are waiting on a timeline from them for the development of the digital module.

What’s Next?

We’ll be aiming to provide more detailed information about delivery estimates in our future updates. In the meantime, if you haven’t filled out your BackerKit surveys, please do! Thank you, as always, for reading and for your support of The Price of Coal!

January Update
about 2 years ago – Mon, Jan 31, 2022 at 07:24:00 PM

Hi folks! Welcome to 2022! We hope you’re having a good start to your new year! This is going to be an exciting year for The Price of Coal team and we hope it will be for you too.

The completed game files have been sent to our printer, Shuffled Ink, and to Roll20, who are developing the virtual module. We’re really excited to be working with them as our production partners to bring you The Price of Coal in its best possible form, whether physical, virtual, or both.

Unfortunately, we do not have estimated delivery dates from them at this time, but we are hoping to bring you that information in our next update.

What’s Next?

We will be in close contact with Shuffled Ink and Roll20 throughout the production process to bring you further updates and estimates regarding timing. If you have not filled out your Backerkit survey, please do! We are still accepting preorders through the Backerkit here.

Thanks for reading, and thank you for your continued support of The Price of Coal!

December Update
over 2 years ago – Thu, Dec 30, 2021 at 12:35:20 AM

Hi folks! Just a quick check-in here at the end of the year!

We are now through the layout process and we’re doing some additional proofing with fresh eyes to make sure we’ve dotted our i’s and crossed our t’s. We want everything to be just right so we’re not rushing through proofing.

We’ve also started working with Roll20 and we’re preparing the files that they need in order to get the digital version of the game ready. This is a really exciting process, and I’m really glad to be able to share the game in this way, which will make it more accessible everywhere.

What’s Next?

Once we’re through proofing, we'll send the files off to the printers and get on their schedule! Don’t forget to fill out your Backerkit survey if you haven’t yet, and please share the preorder link with anyone you think might be interested in the game!

As we close out 2021, we just want to thank you all again for taking this ride with us. We’re looking forward to bringing The Price of Coal to your tables in 2022!

November Update - Backerkit Incoming
over 2 years ago – Fri, Nov 19, 2021 at 08:46:18 AM

Hi folks! This month’s update comes a bit early as we’ve got some exciting news - Backerkit surveys will be going out shortly! An initial batch of surveys will be sent out to a small segment of backers as a smoke test, then the rest of the surveys will go out a little later if there are no issues.

Backerkit is also how we’ll be handling late pledges/pre-orders for any folks who missed the campaign the first time around. So if you know anyone who would be interested in The Price of Coal, you can now share the Backerkit pre-order link with them!

In addition, we’re utilizing Backerkit to distribute the community copies that were funded during our campaign! Anyone who may not be able to afford the game can get one of the community copies as a pre-order until they run out, and they will receive the Roll20 key when those are sent out to our backers.

What’s Next?

Layout is continuing, and once those assets are complete, we will start working with both our printer and with Roll20 to begin production of the physical copies and the digital module. We’ll be spreading the word that pre-orders and community copies are now available, and we hope you will too!

Thanks for reading, and thank you for your continued support!
